“The verse love others as you love yourself is not talking about liking yourself romantically or as a friend. It is talking about making a decision to do what is best for the other person. We are to love ourselves by doing what is best for ourselves. Continuing to shame, condemn, put down ourselves because of past mistakes or current weaknesses goes counter to what the God of the universe said. I can love God, myself and others by doing what is good instead of what is bad.”
