About Will Rogers
He traveled around the world three times, appeared in 71 films, and wrote more than 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. By the mid‑1930s he was a popular political wit and one of the higher‑paid Hollywood stars. Rogers died in 1935 when his small airplane crashed on takeoff near Utqiaġvik, Alaska, while flying with aviator Wiley Post.
