About david rakoff
David Benjamin Rakoff was a Canadian‑American essayist, humorist, journalist and actor. He was born in Montreal, grew up in Toronto and spent his career in New York City. Rakoff regularly contributed essays and stories to WBEZ’s radio program This American Life. He described himself with many playful labels, calling himself a New York writer, a Canadian writer, a mega Jewish writer, a gay writer and an East Asian Studies major who has forgotten most of his Japanese.
