About Ruth Ozeki

Ruth Ozeki, born Ruth Diana Lounsbury, is an American author, filmmaker, and Zen Buddhist priest. She has written novels such as My Year of Meats (1998), All Over Creation (2003), A Tale for the Time Being (2013), and The Book of Form and Emptiness (2021). Her work blends personal stories with topics like science, technology, environmental politics, race, religion, war, and global popular culture. Her books have been translated into more than thirty languages. Ozeki teaches creative writing at Smith College, where she holds the Grace Jarcho Ross 1933 Professor of Humanities position in the English Language and Literature department.
