Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Baptism thus is a symbol of the death of Christ, a picture of him being down under the earth, and when we are lifted up, we also become a symbol of Christ being raised from the dead, and walking in new life.””
