“Addiction is not something that can be kicked. period. You can no more kick addiction than you can kick heart disease. Addiction is a terminal disease and at best is managed..but never cured. Clean time is simply a measure of how you are managing your addiction¦but no matter if you have 1 year clean time or 5 yrs clean time¦the monster of addiction lurks beneath and will again rear its ugly head at a moment of weakness. Having said that¦..the answer is not to lay down and let addiction control your life¦.the answer is to know your enemy¦..if youre an opiate addict..know that you are battling the strongest demon known to man¦.you cant stop? it makes you lie? steal? compromise yourself? your dignity? your body? your health?¦..know that those actions are not who you are¦.but they certainy are what what your addiction is and others will no longer be able to see the difference between you and your behaviors¦¦.people will think that you are your addiction¦but you are not. You are still the person you were before you ever used..before you fell¦..but your addiction is controlling your behaviors and is fooling even you into thinking that is who you are now. It is not! you just have to over come and adapt.”
