About Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein, born in 1879, was a theoretical physicist of German origin. He is remembered above all for creating the theory of relativity, and he also played a meaningful role in the development of quantum theory.
Out of special relativity came his formula expressing the equivalence of mass and energy, E = mc2, often described as the most famous equation in the world. In 1921 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, recognizing his contributions to theoretical physics and, in particular, his discovery of the law governing the photoelectric effect. Einstein died in 1955.
