About Zora Neale Hurston
She highlighted racial struggles in the early‑20th‑century American South and published research on the folk practices of Hoodoo and Caribbean Vodou. In addition to her famous novel, she wrote more than fifty short stories, several plays, an autobiography, ethnographic studies and many essays. Her 1937 work Tell My Horse used early ethnomusicological methods, and her unique background helped shape the fields of ethnography, literature and Africana Studies.
