About Tove Jansson
Tove Marika Jansson was a Finland‑Swedish author, novelist, comic‑strip creator, painter and illustrator. She grew up with an illustrator mother who designed postage stamps and a sculptor father. Jansson studied art from 1930 to 1938 in Helsinki, Stockholm and Paris, and held her first solo exhibition in 1943. She also wrote short stories and articles, and illustrated book covers, advertisements and postcards throughout her life.
