Lloyd Alexander wrote more than 40 fantasy novels for young readers over a seven‑decade career, publishing 48 books that have been translated into 20 languages. His most famous series, The Chronicles of Prydain, consists of five high‑fantasy novels, and its final book, The High King, won the 1969 Newbery Medal.
