Joseph Paul Torre Jr., known as Joe Torre, played baseball professionally and later became a manager and television color commentator. As a player he collected 2,342 hits, and as a manager he earned 2,326 wins, placing him fifth all‑time in MLB history. He led the New York Yankees from 1996 to 2007, guiding them to six American League pennants and four World Series championships. Torre served as Major League Baseball’s chief baseball officer from 2011 to 2020 and has been a special assistant to the commissioner since 2020.
