About Jack Kornfield

He trained as a Buddhist monk in Thailand, Burma and India, studying under Ajahn Chah and Mahasi Sayadaw. Since 1974 he has taught mindfulness meditation around the globe. He co‑founded the Insight Meditation Society in 1975 with Sharon Salzberg and Joseph Goldstein, and Spirit Rock Meditation Center in 1987. He has also worked as a peacemaker, activist, and organized teacher training and international gatherings including the Dalai Lama.
