About George Sand
Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin de Francueil, who wrote under the pen name George Sand, was a French novelist, memoirist and journalist. She was especially popular in Britain during the 1830s and 1840s, even more so than Victor Hugo or Honoré de Balzac. Over her career she produced more than 50 volumes of works, including tales, plays, political texts and about 70 novels.
