About Eleanor Catton
Born in Canada, Catton moved to New Zealand as a child and was raised in Christchurch. She earned a master’s degree in creative writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters, where she wrote her debut novel The Rehearsal, later turned into a 2016 film. The Luminaries was adapted into a television miniseries, for which Catton served as screenwriter. In 2023 she was selected for Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists list.
