When we’ve been wronged, our natural response is to retaliate, but God’s ridiculous command is to forgive entirely. When we’ve lost deeply, it makes sense that we’d pull back for fear of enduring loss again, but God’s ridiculous command is to push forward. When we’ve gained something, our initial response is to hold on tight to preserve it, but God’s ridiculous command is to give it away. These commands give us a revelation that God’s methods are often radically different from ours. It’s not going to make sense to us because we don’t see the way our story ends. All we see is an ask of faith from God that puts us at a crossroads between what is logical and illogical. Yet however ridiculous it seems, we must obey.””
