About Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, writer, and religious teacher. Born Narendranath Datta, he became the foremost disciple of the mystic Ramakrishna.
Vivekananda played a central role in carrying Vedanta and Yoga to Western audiences. He is credited with fostering awareness between faiths and with helping Hinduism gain recognition as a major world religion. His writings include Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bartaman Bharat, and My India: The India Eternal; The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda stands among his notable works as well.
