Shaqiq al-Balkhi was an early Sufi saint of the Khorasan school. Tradition makes him the disciple of Ibrahim ibn Adham. He emphasized the importance of tawakkul or reliance upon God. Some sources state he was a teacher of Bayazid Bastami.
