About Tony Judt
Tony Robert Judt was an English historian, author, essayist and professor specializing in European history. He moved to New York and served as the Erich Maria Remarque Professor in European Studies at New York University, also directing NYU’s Remarque Institute. From 1993 to 1996 he directed the New York Institute for the Humanities. Judt frequently contributed to The New York Review of Books and was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1996 and a corresponding Fellow of the British Academy in 2007.
