About Tom Stoppard
He wrote for film, radio, stage and television. His plays often explored human rights, censorship and political freedom. He worked with the Royal National Theatre and was compared with William Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw. He was knighted in 1997 and received the Order of Merit in 2000.
