Sloane Crosley jokes about the many names telemarketers use for her, and she muses about how a New Yorker plans an apartment even in a worst‑case scenario. She describes her essays as not memoirs but short pieces, and she finds a strange link between creative depression and listening to ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.’
