About Salman Rushdie
His full name is Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie. His stories often blend magical realism with historical settings, exploring connections, disruptions and migrations between Eastern and Western cultures, especially on the Indian subcontinent. His second novel, Midnight’s Children (1981), won the Booker Prize that year and was later called the best novel of all winners on the prize’s 25th and 40th anniversaries.
