About Ruskin Bond

His debut novel, The Room on the Roof, came out in 1956 and won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. Over his career he has written more than five hundred short stories, essays and novels, including sixty‑nine books for children. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992 for Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra, the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2014.
