About Peter Singer
Peter Albert David Singer is an Australian moral philosopher who holds the Emeritus Ira W. DeCamp professorship of bioethics at Princeton University. He works in applied ethics from a secular, utilitarian perspective. In 1975 he published Animal Liberation, arguing for vegetarianism, and his essay "Famine, Affluence, and Morality" urges people to donate to help the poor worldwide. For most of his career he was a preference utilitarian, and in 2014 he co‑authored The Point of View of the Universe, stating he had become a hedonistic utilitarian.
