About Nat Hentoff

Nathan Irving Hentoff wrote for The Village Voice from 1958 until 2009, covering jazz, country music, and First Amendment issues. After leaving the paper he became a senior fellow at the Cato Institute and kept his music column alive in The Wall Street Journal until his death. He was known for defending freedom of the press.
