About Malcolm X
He grew up amid poverty, family disruption and criminal activity. While in prison he discovered the Nation of Islam and served as its spokesperson from 1952 until he embraced Sunni Islam in 1964. He is regarded as a significant Muslim figure in the United States, though some accused him of preaching violence.
