About Karen Armstrong
In addition to her books, Armstrong works as a commentator on religion. She entered a Catholic convent as a sister, later adopting a more liberal and mystical Christian outlook. While in the convent she studied at St Anne’s College, Oxford, earning an English degree, and left the convent in 1969. Her writing emphasizes the shared values of major faiths, especially compassion and the Golden Rule.
