About Joseph Stiglitz
Joseph Stiglitz is an American economist and professor at Columbia University who won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2001 and the John Bates Clark Medal in 1979. He also worked as senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank and later served as a member and chairman of the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers. Stiglitz supports the Georgism theory of public finance and has criticized how globalization is managed, as well as laissez‑faire economists and institutions like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
