About John Cleese

Born John Marwood Cleese, he began his career with the Cambridge Footlights in the 1960s and gained early recognition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and as a scriptwriter and performer on The Frost Report. In addition to acting, he has worked as a producer and presenter. With fellow Python members Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, he starred in Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Life of Brian (1979) and The Meaning of Life (1983).
