About Jane Goodall
Dame Valerie Jane Morris Goodall worked as a primatologist and anthropologist. Beginning in 1960 under the mentorship of Louis Leakey, she spent more than six decades observing the Kasakela chimpanzee community at Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania. Her research showed that chimpanzees share many traits with humans, such as using tools, feeling complex emotions, forming lasting social bonds, engaging in organized warfare, and passing knowledge across generations.
