About Isaac Bashevis Singer
He wrote and published his early works in Yiddish and later translated them into English with editors. Some of his pieces were adapted for the theater. Singer received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978 and was a leading figure in the Yiddish literary movement. He won two U.S. National Book Awards: one in Children’s Literature for his 1970 memoir A Day of Pleasure: Stories of a Boy Growing Up in Warsaw, and one in Fiction for his 1974 collection A Crown of Feathers and Other Stories.
