About Guillermo del Toro
Guillermo del Toro Gómez is a Mexican filmmaker, author and artist whose work blends fairy‑tale, gothic and horror elements. He loves monsters, seeing them as powerful symbols, and uses them to add visual poetry to the grotesque. Del Toro helped create the dark‑fantasy style in movies, often employing insect‑like and religious imagery, themes of Catholicism, imperfection and underworld motifs. He prefers practical special effects and is known for the warm amber lighting that gives his films a distinctive look.
