About George Herbert
He was born in Wales into an artistic and wealthy family and grew up mainly in England. In 1609 he entered Trinity College, Cambridge, where he intended to become a priest but instead served as the university’s Public Orator, catching the attention of King James I. Herbert later sat in the English Parliament in 1624 and again briefly in 1625.
