About Edward Kennedy
Edward Moore Kennedy, a lawyer and Democratic politician, represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate from 1962 until his death in 2009. At the time of his death he was the Senate’s second‑most senior member and ranks fifth for longest continuous service. He was the younger brother of President John F. Kennedy, the brother of Attorney General and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the uncle of Senator Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and the father of Representative Patrick J. Kennedy.
