Denzel Washington, born 1954, is an American actor known for dramatic stage and screen roles who has won two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes, two Silver Bears, a Tony Award and other honors. In addition to his Academy Awards, Washington has received an Actor Award and nominations for a Grammy and two Primetime Emmy Awards. The New York Times called him the greatest actor of the 21st century in 2020. He was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2016, the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2019, the Honorary Palme d’Or in 2025 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2025. Films featuring him have earned more than $5.1 billion worldwide.
