About David Hume

He wrote A Treatise of Human Nature (1739–40) to create a naturalistic science of man that examined the psychological basis of human nature. Following John Locke, Hume rejected innate ideas, saying all ideas come from impressions, and he distinguished relations of ideas (a priori) from matters of fact (experience). He is placed in the empiricist tradition with Locke and Berkeley and used an experimental method inspired by Francis Bacon.
