About Cornelia Funke
Before becoming an author she worked as a social worker and illustrated books. She began writing novels in the late 1980s, focusing on fantasy stories about children facing hardship. She is Germany’s bestselling children’s author, her books have been translated into many languages, and by 2012 she had sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
