About Claude Monet
He is also considered a key precursor to modernism. Throughout his long career he painted many outdoor landscapes, following Impressionism’s idea of showing personal perception of nature. The movement’s name comes from his 1874 painting Impression, Sunrise, shown at the First Impressionist Exhibition that he helped start as an alternative to the Salon.
