About Bette Davis
She was known for playing unsympathetic, sardonic characters and worked across many genres, from contemporary crime melodramas to historical period films and occasional comedies, with her greatest successes in romantic dramas. Davis won the Academy Award for Best Actress twice, was the first person to receive ten Academy Award acting nominations, and the first woman to receive the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
