About Audre Lorde
In addition to writing and teaching, Lorde was a philosopher and an intersectional feminist who fought for civil rights. She called herself a Black, lesbian, feminist, socialist, mother, warrior and poet, and spent her life confronting all forms of injustice. She believed there should be no hierarchy of oppressions among people who share the goal of liberation and a hopeful future for children.
