About Adolf Hitler
He became the leader of the Nazi Party, was appointed chancellor in 1933 and took the title Führer und Reichskanzler in 1934. Under his command Germany invaded Poland on 1 September 1939, starting the Second World War. He directed German military operations and was central to the Holocaust, in which about six million Jews and millions of other people were killed.
