““After mom left, I was doing well enough that I transitioned from the hospital room to sharing the room at the Mologne House with my dad. He was the only one of the family left on a permanent basis. It was just Dad and me in that one room. At times, that was pretty miserable! I would wake up in the morning and he’d be sitting there at this little table in the hotel room, drinking his coffee and just looking at me. I get it now; he was just being a dad. But while it was happening, I thought, What are you looking at, Dad? Quit staring at me. And then he also washed my clothes, which astounded me. He was doing things I’d never seen the man do before. So even with his annoying staring at me while I slept thing, I was grateful he was there.””
