Troy James Smith is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2006. Due to concerns about his size and an unimpressive performance in the 2007 BCS National Championship Game, he was not selected until the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Smith spent his first three seasons with the Ravens and his last with the San Francisco 49ers, mostly as a backup. After being released by the 49ers, he played one season with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League (UFL) and two with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
