Lucius Annaeus Seneca the Younger, generally called just Seneca, was a philosopher of the Stoic school in Ancient Rome. Alongside his philosophical work he served as a statesman and wrote drama, and in a single work he turned his hand to satire. His writing belongs to the post-Augustan period of Latin literature, and his plays survive under the collective title Tragedies.
