About Kenneth Grahame

Born in Scotland, Grahame spent most of his childhood with his grandmother in England after his mother died and his father could not care for the children. He attended St Edward’s School in Oxford, but could not go to university and instead joined the Bank of England, where he had a successful career. Before writing The Wind in the Willows, he published three earlier books: Pagan Papers (1893), The Golden Age (1895) and Dream Days (1898).
