About Elizabeth Cady Stanton
Stanton was the driving force behind the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention, the first meeting called solely to discuss women's rights, and she wrote the Declaration of Sentiments presented there. Her call for women's suffrage sparked debate at the convention but soon became a core goal of the movement. She also worked on other reforms, especially the abolition of slavery.
