““People frequently ask me, “But what will you do when you get into the real world?” I am then tempted to ask, “What makes you think that my world is any less real than yours?” After all, reality is relative. The world of a teenage runaway is certainly not real to an heiress, any more than the world of an Ethiopian who grows up, lives and dies in a famine-ridden country is real to the average, middle-class American. Who is to say which of these worlds is “real” since each is so different from the others? It remains a simple fact that although all of us are aware that many different lifestyles and cultures exist on this planet, the “real world” remains the one which an individual builds for himself or which someone else builds for him. The life that I enjoy may not be typical, but it is most certainly real, and I can think of no better lifestyle.””
