John F. Kerry talks about Syria’s leadership, saying Bashar Assad controls only a fraction of the country and that peace is hard while he remains in power. He calls for a unified, secular Syria and urges Palestinians to stop incitement. He also points out that Israel receives most of U.S. military aid and that creating a democratic Jewish state with a large Palestinian population is very complex.
