Computer science Quotes
A high school student at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy learned that big ideas can start early. The quotes also point out that early pioneers like Turing and Shannon built computer science on abstract models, and that today we need policies that bring more girls into the field. Personal stories show how studying CS can feel both nerdy and creative.
![“[Though computer science is a fairly new discipline, it is predominantly based on the Cartesian world view. As Edsgar W. Dijkstra has pointed out] A scientific discipline emerges with the - usually rather slow! - discovery of which aspects can be meaningfully 'studied' in isolation for the sake of…” quote by Edsger Dijkstra](https://sms4smile.com/quotes/i/22a/edsger-dijkstra-5102_aspect_though-computer-science-is-a-fairly-new_1280947.png)
![“Remember how quickly our field [computer science] changes. That's why you want to focus on learning things that don't change: how to work well with other people, how to carefully assess a client's real - as opposed to perceived - needs, and things like that.” quote by Randy Pausch](https://sms4smile.com/quotes/i/e79/randy-pausch-842_clients_remember-how-quickly-our-field-computer_1007535.jpg)
![“What is the central core of the subject [computer science]? What is it that distinguishes it from the separate subjects with which it is related? What is the linking thread which gathers these disparate branches into a single discipline. My answer to these questions is simple -it is the art of…” quote by Tony Hoare](https://sms4smile.com/quotes/i/18f/tony-hoare-25834_accurate_what-is-the-central-core-of-the-subject_1203244.jpg)
