Born Ramakrishna Chattopadhyay, Ramakrishna was an Indian Hindu mystic who worshipped the goddess Kali. He practiced Vaishnavism, Tantric Shaktism, Advaita Vedanta, as well as Christianity and Sufi Islam. His teachings used parables to stress that all religions are many paths to the same goal, and his followers consider him an avatar.
