About Pythagoras
Pythagoras of Samos was an ancient Ionian Greek philosopher, polymath, and founder of Pythagoreanism. His political and religious teachings were popular in Magna Graecia and later influenced the ideas of Plato and Aristotle, shaping Western philosophy. Scholars disagree about his early education, but most agree he traveled to Croton in southern Italy around 530 BC, where he started a school. Initiates there were said to keep secret teachings and lived together in a simple, communal life.
